History

Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) traces its origins to the Swadeshi Science Movement, which began at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru under the visionary leadership of Prof. K. I. Vasu. The movement aimed to promote indigenous scientific advancements rooted in Indian knowledge systems.

A significant milestone was achieved in 1991 at the Nagpur meet, where eminent scientists and thought leaders decided to expand the movement nationwide, renaming it Vijnana Bharati. Over the years, it has grown into a pan-Indian organization with 35 units in India and a presence in 9 countries, fostering scientific innovation while embracing India’s traditional knowledge and values.

Vision
